Hi,

I'm keen on home automation, but the cost gets me down.

I have an old PC that I want to use as a server, and for starters I want to just control a set of curtains. What API & wireless protocol should I be looking into for my devices?

Previously I've made Bluetooth & ZigBee devices (a few lights & a kettle), but I'm looking to go more "standards centric" both for portability & so that other people can easily understand & contribute other device implementations.

Is the AutoHTN source available?

I'm interested in setting up a way to control my thermostat using my Android phone. What would I need to install in order to do this?
