Mac Mini as a video music hub + Iphone/Ipod Touch
By Juan @ May 01 2008 08:43 am
There is a lot of HTPCs for windows, but what if you have MAC os system?
what would be the best way to set up a Mac Mini as a HTPC? How do I integrate an iphone or ipodtouch as a remote to manage HTN in the home.
Thanks,
J.C.

Honestly, I haven’t worked much with the MAC Mini so I’m not sure if I’m the best one to answer your question. There are spec details at the link below:

It had DVI video output so you could use a DVI to HDMI cable to attach it to a TV or a receiver. It also has optical audio output for surround sound. I’m not sure how customizable it is with the hard drive size and software. It might be better to attach a regular MAC to the TV instead.
iPhone wise, Apple just released its SDK so programs should be coming soon. I’ve seen some hacked iPhone programs that are pretty cool and can control home automation. I’ll post the links as soon as I find it again. We’re thinking about porting our AutoHTN program to the iPhone, but it would still require a Windows PC for all the xPL programs.
Here is a couple links for iPhone home automation:
