NEED HELP CONNECTING BOSE 321 SONY BLUE RAY CABLE HDTV

By AWarren1 @ Oct 14 2007 11:19 am

I have a sony kds60A3000 hdtv, Bose 321 gs II, latest SA 8300 cable box and new 80 gb Sony PS3.  I need to know how to connect this all together for the best picture and sound.  I want to  use the Bose dvd player for regular dvds and the PS3 for games and blue ray dvds.  As you are probably aware the Bose has component hookup and 1 optical audio output. Please no nays for the bose, its the only thing that works in the space available.  That  said I would appreciate the correct info to put all of this mess together.  I have ordered a 3 way opitcal audio switch and 3 good optical cables and I have a good hdmi cable.  The bose is connected to the tv presently using monster component cable.  Any expert help would be appreciated with this setup. Thanks in advance.

  1. Looks like your Sony HDTV has 3 HDMI inputs. I would use two of those for the PS3 and 8300 cable box …thus should cover the video. On the audio side, the 8300 has coaxial digital output and the PS3 had optical output. I would run those two outputs to the Bose media box. Finally, run the component output of the Bose media box to the Sony TV so you could watch DVDs. By the way, I’m assuming you’re not using the speakers on the Sony HDTV.

I’m not sure how the Bose handles switching between audio and video inputs or if some are tied together so my suggestion may not work, or it may be a hassle. If it does work, you could try one of those Logitech remotes that automatically switch audio/video inputs on multiple devices. Hope this helps.

I’m sure you would like the information I have.
